At It Again…Again

Almost exactly a year ago, I started this blog. My migraines made working out consistently a big challenge. Since then, I have gone through several medications. I found one that worked, then my insurance wouldn’t cover it. Then, I tried other meds that insurance would cover - but they didn’t work. Then I got approval to go back to the medication that worked, but the savings card from the manufactured changed and the co-pay went way up so I couldn’t afford it anymore. Oof.

In the meantime, I did have a great 2+ month streak of working out and eating well in September and October through Thanksgiving. Then, Thanksgiving happened and everything went to hell. I’ve worked out here and there since then and have been eating whatever whenever.

It’s been very stressful re-opening the theater, closing again, and reopening again. We’ve had a lot of transitions in our staff. That has also been an obstacle. Plus, my 2 year old dog has been having seizures for the past year. They are getting worse. And my 16 year old dog is peeing everywhere. Oh, and my mom has transitioned from her apartment to nursing care. And, of course, there is still a pandemic around.

But, I can’t just let life and stress and money or even my headaches dictate my self-care anymore. I need to take control. I’m bigger than I have ever been, by a lot, and it feels like all of a sudden. I don’t feel good. I have to push through the not feeling good to get to the feeling good.

At the beginning of the year, I decided this was the year of being a BADASS. I’ve been practicing that in some areas of my life. Now, I need to be a badass with self-case and self-discipline.

So, here we go again. Again.

Today:

  • I worked out on the Tonal — Coach Liz Slow & Strong, 35 minutes
  • I walked 40 minutes with Jon and the mutts.
  • I got only 5 hours of sleep last night, but I did go back and nap. I’m going to head to bed here soon.
  • I tracked my food in MyFitnessPal.
  • I started drinking more water intentionally.
  • Took my medication and going to add some vitamins. Kept the number of Tylenol down as much as possible.
  • As far as stress free things — walk and workout, but they don’t really count.
